On Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2022, Adayah Wallace, senior softball player, signed to The University of Texas Division 1 softball program.

Adayah began her softball career at just seven years old with fast feet and a knack for running bases. With a previous history of Track & Field, Adayah’s athletic ability quickly became a secret weapon for Plano West’s growing softball program.

“I loved the energy and aggression in the sport,” said Adayah.

She joined the varsity roster her freshman year and earned quite a few awards for her contributions, including; 6-6A 1st All-District Team 20-22, 6-6A Defensive Player of The Year 2021, All-Area UIL Team 2022, and Academic All-District 20-22.

“I hope to be remembered as caring, compassionate, humble, inspiring, a student-athlete, and a young woman,” said Wallace.

Her path to success featured a few setbacks, as she had to regrow her mentality as an athlete and individual by overcoming a fear of failure that limited her true potential.

“I had to learn mental toughness and realize that softball is a game of failure in which I need to overcome with confidence,” said Wallace. “I would like to thank my coaches and trainers for teaching me what I know now and pushing me to beyond my limits.”

Alongside her collegiate athletic career, she aims to balance academics and pursue a degree at the School of Nursing within UT and become a nurse practitioner.

Adayah urges younger athletes to enjoy every second of their high school careers.

“Enjoy every moment you have because time moves faster than you think,” said Wallace. “Don’t let adversity take over your love of the sport, and learn to overcome your challenges with positivity and determination.”
