Devin Patton, Wrestling, Texas Wesleyan University

Devin Patton, a wrestler on the Plano West Wrestling team, officially signed with Texas Wesleyan University this past month.

“I chose to go to Texas Wesleyan University because they offered me a full ride, and it was close to home,” Patton said. “I am also close with the coach, and already know the girl on the team.”

Texas Wesleyan was her final choice for college both because of the wrestling program, and because it offers the right degree program for her.

“This school is perfect for me because they offer the major I want, physical therapy, and fully support my goals to take wrestling as far as I can,” Patton said.

Patton did not have much of a choice when it came to why she began wrestling as her siblings were already involved in the sport

“I first started wrestling because both my older sisters wrestled, therefore I was born into it,” Patton said.

Patton has learned many lessons while wrestling, but one will always stick with her.

“The most important lesson wrestling has taught me is hard work,” Patton said. “No one is an accidental champion, and you must earn your way to the top.”

When it comes to her major, Patton has decided on the therapy field.

“I plan on becoming a physical therapist, and owning my own firm,” Patton said.
