Plano West Ready for Mesquite in Week Three

After losses to Frisco Reedy (46-14) and Flower Mound (45-21) in weeks one and two, the Wolves are gearing up for a week three matchup against Mesquite.

Mesquite went 1-9 last season, only beating Garland High School 49-13. The Skeeters suffered losses to Lake Highlands, Sachse, North Mesquite, Horn, John Tyler, Lee, Rockwall Heath, Rockwall, and Longview.

Mesquite is 0-1 on the season (lost to Lake Highlands 45-35 in their season opener), as their week two matchup against Grand Prairie was canceled due to weather delays.

Here is how Mesquite did against Lake Highlands two weeks ago:

Mesquite quarterbacks Dylan McGill threw for 113 yards, and Arturo Flores threw for 28 yards and a touchdown. In terms of rushing, McGill led the Skeeters with 168 yards on the ground and a touchdown. Ladarius Turner added 140 yards and three touchdowns, Ja’Darion Smith had 37 yards, and Nate Miller had 9. Receiving leaders for the Skeeters included Kavin Roberts with 54 yards, Tyrone Browning with 44, and Devin Davis with 33.

Plano West is entering its third (and final) game against a non-district opponent, as the rest of the Wolves’ games this year will be against other 9-6A teams, beginning with Dallas Jesuit next week.
