Monday Sept. 19 is College Night
PISD College Night will be hosted at the Plano Event Center on Sept. 19, with over 200 colleges, military institutions, and trade schools in attendance for Plano ISD students.
With application deadlines coming up as soon as November 1, College Night is a resource for students to learn new information on the application process and sign up for FAFSA/TASFA opportunities.
Tracy Eubanks, Plano West’s lead counselor, emphasized the benefits of attending this annual event.
“[College Night] is important because that’s where students can connect with colleges, universities, technical schools, and the military,” said Ms. Eubanks. “You really need to get in front of those college admission reps because that’s a good way for you to sell yourself.”
At College Night, students and parents can talk with in-state and out-of-state university representatives for schools like the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Oklahoma, and Vanderbilt through small breakout sessions. Click here for the extended master list.
“It gives students the opportunity to know what each college offers on a personal level, and how they can fit into that college’s culture,” said Mrs. Eubanks.
PISD is partnering with Plano schools to promote this event through a themed dress-up week. Monday: College Colors, Tuesday: Future Career, Wednesday: Camo or Military, Thursday: Favorite Hat, and Friday: Plano West Colors.
